The settings that actually save your battery while gaming
Battery is the quiet enemy of mobile gaming. A great game means nothing if it kills your phone before lunch. After testing dozens of titles, I've found a handful of settings that make the biggest difference, and most of them barely change how a game looks.
Frame rate is the big one. Many games default to 60fps or higher, but capping to 30 or 40 can cut power draw a lot, especially in fast games. In slower titles you genuinely won't notice the difference. Look for a graphics or performance menu — it's often hidden a few taps deep.
Next, effects like particles, shadows, and water reflections. These are pretty to look at and expensive to run. Dropping them a notch usually keeps the game recognizable while easing the load on your GPU and, in turn, the heat and battery.
Finally, screen brightness and refresh rate live in your phone's system settings, not the game, but they matter just as much. Lower brightness and a locked lower refresh rate can quietly add half an hour or more to a session. Combine these and even a demanding game becomes commute-friendly.
