Tideborn Tactics

★★★★☆ 4.3 Editor rating

Tideborn Tactics is a slower, thinky strategy game about managing island settlements and the waters between them. You allocate resources, position ships, and plan routes, and the AI is smart enough to punish lazy moves. It's the kind of game that lives well on a phone because turns are short and you can think between them.

What I liked most is how legible the map is on a small screen — zoom is snappy and units never blur into each other. The tutorial eases you in over a few missions instead of dumping everything at once. Multiplayer skirmishes are asynchronous, so you take your turn whenever you have a minute.

It won't grab people who want instant action; this is a game for planners. Battery life is reasonable since there's not much happening on screen at once, which is a nice bonus for a strategy title.
